Joanna Penn on why you should consider print AND eBooks
You know I’m a big, big fan of eBook publishing. So when Joanna Penn from the Creative Penn blog puts a video together on why she’s gone back to print, you sit up and take notice.
The truth is, Joanna is right on every point. Listen to her explain in this 9 minute video. It’s well worth watching.
Here’s my take on this. She’s 100% correct. eBooks are an excellent platform to get started on your writing career. But at some point you’re going to need to take it a step further and produce a print version for your readers. Print on Demand services (POD) like CreateSpace make it very easy for you to create a print version of your eBook.
Here’s the main points.
- Joanne recommends not rushing in though. Let your eBook ‘settle’ through it’s various editing and correcting cycles.
- You can use your eBook sales to fund your conversion to print
- Don’t make the classic newbie mistake of paying thousands of dollars for print copies that you might not be able to sell. Use Print on Demand services like Create Space ONCE your eBook is off and settled and selling.
- Your eBook pricing can look like a bargain next to your higher priced print book. Having a print version available can actually drive eBook sales.
Take Joanna’s advice. Give your readers the choice of eBook AND print. Self publishing with Print on Demand is a great way to turn your eBook into a real, living book. What do you think? Please leave a comment below.
